The STEM Baseball curriculum is designed to drive home STEM-based learning with the great game of baseball. STEM Baseball gives students the opportunity to get behind the sport they love with lessons centered around the composition of an actual baseball, understanding the dimensions of the baseball diamond and even engineering a pitching machine. Each educational baseball activity the students engage in takes them on a cognitive trip around the bases and strikes on the answers to compelling questions about the game.
STEM Baseball is an educational enrichment program that combines STEM education and the real-life application of baseball. It is made up of eight (8) modules, several with worksheets, all which align with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and/or Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and/or National Standards for K-12 Physical Education. Each STEM Baseball kit includes a teacher’s manual -- that is easily administered -- and reusable sports equipment and science supplies in order for the program to be fully implemented and turnkey. 5E sequenced lessons are specifically composed and differentiated for grades 3rd, 4th and 5th and another set for 6th, 7th and 8th grades. The program is well designed and scalable for teachers, administrators and even volunteers for school classrooms, after-school programs and in camp settings. There is no professional development or training required to implement the curriculum.
A STEM Baseball kit will reach hundreds of students over a handful of years and will serve as a true educational baseball resource. A STEM Baseball kit comes with all the sports equipment and science supplies to go along with each lesson, including: one (1) STEM Baseball Curriculum Manual, six (6) Rawlings baseballs, one (1) Rawlings baseball cut-in-half, one (1) Rawlings softball, one (1) Bushnell radar gun, six (6) digital stopwatches, six (6) 25' tape measures, and one (1) weight scale.
